    Worth it or not?

    or..

Is this the simplest way to rid myself of detonation on hot days?

Also, isn't this doing what people fear about CAI systems?

    Ok, here's my follwup question.

I know for sure I'm detonating on my 6 psi LS. The plugs were black, including a good portion of the threads. I was also feeling a signifigant loss of power spike around 5k rpms in HOT weather. This obviously should not be happening. I have the plugs that JR recommends, as well as their high output fuel pump. My a/f guage never reports more than STOICH at WOT. The guy who saw it at the shop was wondering if it was working or not.

Where do I start? I'm afraid to drive it. This is my daily driver, and I've been biking to work smile (no joke)

I thought that if you were detonating, the plugs would be white? And if you're running LEAN, you're plugs would be blackish (Cuz of the unburnt fuel)? Or was it the other way around? I always forget?

Water injction is a DECENT form of intercooling; though; not half as efficient as a front-mount IC.

I emailed Corky Bell about the water injection, and he told me it was a cheap alternative band-aid solution.

I would rather get all the safegaurds, and some good tuning. If you must go above 8psi, then get the injection, but be ready for a few "glitches" with the system.

The scare with water from the CAI is dirty road water, wth mud and rocks.

that is why with CAI you never use foam....allows water and dirt to easily get in....

    Question

I thought the scare with water and a CAI is that if the intake is low enough you run the risk of hydrolocking the motor if you drive through a flooded section of road.

running lean causes detonation, hence lean=detonation which in turn leads to KABOOM!! As for the color of the plugs, i wanna say they are white, but you will definately see wear on the electrode for example rounding from the extreme high heat.
